Harnessing Feminine Energy for Inner Peace and Vitality
As a woman, our feminine energy is the inherent source of our power.
But, all too often our feminine qualities are repressed, devalued, or exchanged for the more acceptable masculine traits that are so valued by the current culture.
We see this every time a woman is told to be quiet, or dismissed out of hand. We feel it when we second guess our feminine intuition (or ignore it altogether!), or try to hide our valid emotions. When we are not seen or heard in our families or communities, and when we still have to fight for equity and equality in almost all social arenas, we feel subjugated and diminished simply for the fact that we inherently possess more feminine traits, and lean into our identity as feminine women.
In fact, being a part of this primarily masculine-dominated culture, we may not even be fully aware of how to embrace feminine energy and the signs of a feminine woman!
Not to mention that when we consider how to be feminine, a lot of what we consider in terms of how to be in your feminine energy is both devalued and potentially detrimental in the way our society and culture is currently set up.
For example, if we look at feminine vs masculine energy in terms of the way things might be done in a typical work setting, what is generally valued and what makes a woman successful is actually based on masculine rules and standards! Success at the workplace is typically achieved through competition with colleagues, and the assertive decision making by leaders within a hierarchical structure.
While there is nothing wrong with a little competition, and leaders are often necessary to get jobs done, leadership and competition are masculine energy traits, not feminine energy traits. If the feminine woman is required to lean into these traits 100% of the time, she becomes exhausted and burnt out as she dons this masculine mask.
It’s not authentic to what is feminine energy to stay locked in masculine vs feminine energy for too long.
While all of us have both feminine and masculine energy within us, each of us has a primary polarity, that when we are able to lean into it and express it fully, we flourish! If we identify as a feminine woman, and we are interested in achieving happiness as a woman, then it is important that we find opportunities to express our feminine as often as possible.
This is how powerful women avoid burnout!
While it may be helpful to occasionally play up the masculine energy traits at certain points in order to get the job done, provide clear leadership, or make calculated decisions, ultimately, this is not how to be more feminine. In fact, masculine and feminine energy differ greatly in the way that they approach the workplace, home, social interactions and relationships. Unfortunately, the culture we live in tends to overvalue and center masculine behavior and tendencies over the feminine ones.
Instead of what we have previously been taught on how to become a successful woman, we need to seek satisfaction instead and become a satisfied woman.
It is a source of empowerment for women to bring forward feminine vs masculine energy and release the competitive, overachieving, sometimes cutthroat ideals that are often valued in our society. Satisfaction helps achieve a work-life balance for women because it allows us to seek the fulfillment of our goals and needs. Leaning firmly into our feminine energy vs masculine energy means we optimize our best qualities and leave room for joy, pleasure, and satisfaction!
When we fulfill our goals and needs, we tend to focus on women’s happiness and women’s well-being, over and above the ledger or the bottom line.
In fact, what makes women happiest is what brings them inner peace and vitality…the things that feed their soul.
Women tend to be fulfilled by the work and lifestyle that brings them joy, the interactions that enhance their spirit, and the social engagements that make them feel most connected to one another and those they love.
When women are satisfied, they discover feminine empowerment, which may look different from typical models of “success” in our world. Even if it looks different, it is what it feels like on the inside that determines the best pathway for how to find happiness as a woman!
